Welcome to my class websites!
About Mr. V: I grew up in rural Nebraska on the farm and moved to California for college in 2001. I moved to Northern California in 2004 and quickly fell in love with the outdoors here. When I’m not teaching you will find me exploring a local lake or river in search of that fish of a lifetime. I married my college sweetheart, Amy, in May of 2007. We have two incredible daughters- Jade (6th) and Lyla (4th). We enjoy camping, fishing and exploring the outdoors together!
I am entering my 14th year teaching at the Loomis Basin Charter School. I have taught 2nd, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, including Humanities, Technology, Design, 3D Printing, and Video Production classes. I absolutely love having the opportunity to be involved in a child’s education. I strive to create engaging and relevant learning opportunities that include student collaboration and integration of technology to allow students to gain core content knowledge and develop 21st century skills. I believe student success is not measured merely on content knowledge, but on a more holistic approach to becoming a lifelong learner and preparedness for a rapidly changing world. Success for the future will require students to think critically, collaborate, analyze multiple perspectives, be compassionate, and use technology to solve real world problems.
